GPS-based Portable Navigation Devices Took Off in U.S. During 2006
The adoption of global positioning system (GPS) technology in the U.S. is really starting to take off. U.K.-based research and consultancy firm Canalys reported Tuesday that 1.5 million portable navigation devices (PNDS)—which use GPS technology—were shipped in the U.S. during the fourth quarter of 2006, more than total shipments during the previous three quarters combined.
